#Authorblog Newbie Tag (Authortube Tag for Blogs)

Hi Guys, welcome back to my blog. Today, I thought I would try something different. Something fun for a change that I am dubbing the Authorblog Newbie Tag. I have been searching around the 'interwebs' to see if any other author outside of Authourtube, has tried any of the tags from there in a blog, but I couldn't find any. So, I decided to go ahead and do it on my own. Bloggers deserve to have fun too. (By the way, you run an author blog or know of anyone else that has already done this, I would love to check it out so feel free to drop it in the comments below.)

Okay, enough of my blabbing, let's dive right in with the questions:

Question #1: How did you find out about Author Blogs/Authortube?

I have been a religious reader/watcher of Authortube and Author blog for years as I was always searching for tips to improve my own writing. As a full-time freelance writer, you are always seeking ways to better your craft, and it was a fun way to do so.

What genres do you write in?

I currently write Romance for myself as well as ghostwrite under a bunch of non-fictional genres for a variety of clients.

What is your preferred writing tense, point of view, and category of story? (Children’s, YA, NA, Adult, etc.)

I seem to be drawn to past tense in first person when I write. I really couldn't say why as most the novels that I have loved and rated 4/5 stars were written in present tense. But my brain does what it wants to do when I sit in front of that blank page.

Are you a plotter, pantser, or plantser?

I don't know, would alien work as a suitable answer??? This one is hard. I would probably say that I am a planster if you really want to slap a label on it. Sometimes I go into the writing process knowing exactly where I want the novel to end and a few major points, like the climax, etc. But, there are other times when the ideas for each chapter flood my brain, and I have to just stop what I am doing and outline. So, yeah, maybe I should just stick to ticking the fourth box for alien.

Are you a self-published, published, or yet-to-be published?

I am proudly self-published. Both my debut romance novel, The Hunt: An Interracial Love Story that was released on May 9, 2019, and Ignited: A BWWM Romance currently available for preorder on Amazon were self-published. The final book in the Consumed by Heat series will also be self-published and is planned to be released later in 2019.

What publishing company, literary agent, and/or printing company are you represented by or use? If you’re not yet published, what is your dream publishing house and/or literary agent?

To be honest, I don't really have a dream publisher in mind, at the moment, though I could change my mind at any given time. I choose to self-publish so that I would be able to enjoy the creative freedom of sharing the stories that pop into my head in the way I see them. So, I guess I would be willing to partner with any publisher in the future that will allow me the creative freedom to let my crazy mind have fun on the page.

What AuthorBlog related content can we expect to find on your blog?

My blog is set to evolve in a safe haven for newbie writers, authors and book lovers alike that are interested in writing tips, learning from mistakes I have made along my writing journey, how to dive deeper into freelance writing as a career, writing tags, reading tags, book reviews, and anything else that my crazy mind can think of.

When did you start writing?

I have always had a creative mind, seizing the opportunity to write stories as a kid in school (about grade 4 or 5) for school competitions, but it was in high school that I really started taking writing seriously. By the end of Grade 11, I was ghostwriting content for other authors/publishers.

What was the first story you ever wrote?

The first book I ever completed was a collection of Emo poetry I wrote in Grade 9. I had been in a horrific car accident and was pulled out of school for the whole semester. I was left to my thoughts for most the days, and I figured the best outlet was my black and white hardcover composition book.

What authors have inspired your writing the most?

This is also a hard question for me to answer, simply because there are so many authors that I love, and that list constantly changes. If I could twist the question more into the authors that I strive to be like one day, in terms of their writing ethic, and discipline I would have to say Sidney Sheldon, for sure, Neil Gaiman, Steven King, and Nora Roberts.

Do you schedule your writing sessions or simply get to writing whenever you can find the time?

This is another weird question for me to answer as I am a full-time freelance writer so, technically I do write for the majority of every day. However, I only write for myself on my own books whenever I find the time.

Do you type on a computer, typewriter, write everything out by hand, or use a blend of those? And where do you write in general?

I write predominantly on my PC. I find that it's simpler, especially being a plantser as I may get an idea or a quote that I know I want to appear further in the chapter that I would skip a few lines and add it in while I have it in my head. I'm not sure that style would work writing it out on paper or with a typewriter.

What are you most looking forward to now that you’re a part of AuthorBlog/AuthorTube?

Being apart of the community. Feeling like I actually belong or contribute to something meaningful. I know that the number of AuthorTubers far outweigh the number of AuthorBloggers these days. But, I hope that I will still be able to use my platform to provide meaningful content for book lovers and writers alike while making some friends along the way.
