Review of P.S. It's Always Been You by Lauren Blakely

Hi guys, today we'll be discussing the brand new Audible Original serial P.S. It's Always Been You by Lauren Blakely. As usual, we start with a brief disclaimer. The views presented in this post are 100% my own and are not intended to sway you in any way against or towards any particular direction. This is simply my honest thoughts of the book. Now let’s dive into the actual review.

Book Blurb

Narrated by Scott Eastwood and Andi Arndt, a sweeping, second chance romance that weaves mystery, passion, and humor as two present-day lovers search for a love story from the past....

Past loves should stay in the past.

After the way my first love took off for the ends of the earth, the last thing I want is to see him on billboards and bookstore bestseller shelves. Now my boss just handed me the project that could make my career. All I have to do is partner up with the man, the myth, the legend - adventurer Hunter Armstrong.

That's easier said than done, because when we reconnect, I learn Hunter has his own agenda on this project. And it's not to find a treasure in art and antiques. It's me. But what we discover shocks both of us, and we have no choice but to follow the clues....

P.S. It's Always Been You: Part 1 is the first installment in the P.S. It's Always Been You serial novel. Presley and Hunter's story continues in P.S. It's Always Been You: Part 2.

All installments are available for unlimited listening in Audible Escape!

My Opinion

Rating - 3.5 Stars

Where to begin? P.S. It Always Been You is the introductory 'episode' of a three-part second chance romance serial. We are introduced intimately to our main characters, Presley and Hunter, with an intriguing look in their history together as a couple, the reason fr their initial breakup or lack thereof, and the circumstances behind their inevitable reunion ten years later.

My only critique was that at various points throughout the story, the character's voice (Presley's in particular) didn't strike me as a 35-year-old woman. Outside of that, though, the book was entertaining, and both narrators did a fantastic job.

In terms of star rating, I'm torn between a 3 and 4 star on this one. Serials this short are generally harder to rate. It was a good set up for the remaining installments, and because of that, I am sure I will love books 2 and 3.
